Gerard's Gazette
A weekly roundup of what’s happening in Goa, why it matters and why you should care.
Dear Readers,
Hello and welcome to the first edition of Gerard’s Gazette, a weekly newsletter that aims to offer you a roundup of selected stories from the week gone by, the news behind the news and offering context and insight into why it matters.
But first an introduction. I’m Gerard de Souza, a journalist and Goa Correspondent for the Hindustan Times. I’ve been working in the field of journalism for the past 16 years across various newspapers in Goa including Gomantak Times, OHeraldo and The Goan Everyday writing about Goa’s people and its environment.
Via this weekly newsletter I hope to enlighten you about the goings on in India’s smallest state with a perspective that takes a step back from the daily news cycle, and offer insight into why the state’s major players are doing what they do.
I hope to take you through not just some of the work I do, but also that of other respectable journalists as well as offering links to other publications, podcasts, video interviews and events where books, literature, culture and festivals are discussed with a view to offer a comprehensive take on the state’s landscape.
Hoping you can join me on this journey.
All the best Gerard, hope to read news from this handle regularly
Thank you, Gerard. Looking forward to more posts.
