Fortunately, I do not live anywhere along the beach belt but I have heard the incredible, illegal, loud noise emanating from the establishments of the law violators and I am sure that I could not live in such places.

As Gerard has pointed out, noise disturbance and violation of the rights of people living there is an age old problem along the beach belt.

Over the decades, the normal legal procedures, complaints and expectations have failed to address the violations of the law and fundamental rights of the citizens. In a normal country, the citizens would never allow such an insult to their fundamental rights.

I remember reading many years ago that in a gated community in Goa occupied by Indians from other states and whites, mostly British, had a clash of core cultural values and respect for the law.

The Indos regularly invited persons from outside and held noisy parties extending to the wee hours of the morning or beyond and despite repeated requests from the white residents to stop the noise, particularly after 10.0pm., as you may have guessed, the Indos carried on in the usual assumption that only they had rights.

So one fine day the white male residents gathered at the entrance of the gated community and stopped any non resident from entering the place on that evening. No violent clashes were reported but I believe that if necessary the whites were willing to enforce their rights.

It seems that the noise violation then stopped.

The inter-generations of normal people living along the coastal belt have been suffering long enough and should realize by now that all their various attempts to win back their rights, including orders from the higher up courts have failed.

So, the question now is what shall be done about it? Are they to continue with the circus of injustice or is a new strategy the need of the hour?

Great breakdown as always. In Anjuna, the assaulter - Gajanan has given interviews to multiple "news" channels. Next, they will be interviewing murders and rapists to hear their side of the story. The irony of Michael Lobo, Delilah Lobo and the taxi drivers accusing local residents of extortion is not lost on us. Besides this, the Lobos have their own restaurant 'Pisco by the beach' located in Anjuna so naturally 'their man' will protect their interests as well (apart from being a collection agent).
